balsamic blueberry basil smash

Berry, berry nice.

I’m sure my brain is broken because I’ve definitely written this more than once, but I am loving cocktails on weekends. For a time I reserved a drink for maybe once a month, but mixology is fast morphing into another method of creative expression. Muddling, mixing, shaking, tasting – it’s all play to me. Not to mention, I get to relax a bit and sip something more than water.

This particular one is a perfect segue to spring. Berries will soon bloom into true season, and when they get real cheap, make this on repeat. Blueberries and jam hang out with fresh basil and mint, a bit of lemon juice, a touch of balsamic (just to help pull out the tart-sweet berries, trust me, you can’t taste it!), your favorite bourbon, and a ginger beer hat once everything streams into a glass.

Refreshing and zesty describes our here Balsamic Blueberry Basil Smash. I’ll cheers to that, friends.

Question – what’s your favorite berry?

You inspired me to make this! I had to make a few substitutions because of low inventory and I raised it to a martini, but it was amazing!
