cherry cordial martini
Boozy candy, basically.
Many a source claims that tart cherry juice is an excellent recovery drink for intense exercise. Whether it really does have long-term ramifications during my Chicago Marathon training cycle remains to be seen, but I do know that it gives me an excuse to have one of these Cherry Cordial Martinis every so often and dub my sippage as a means of recovering.
Funny enough, I don’t love cherry cordials as a candy. Maraschinos are basically my least favorite excuse for a fruit. My sister’s boyfriend, however, is entirely infatuated in them, and finding something that dude likes to eat or drink takes a serious act of Congress and some warped version of the scientific method.
I still await official approval, but I think this would receive the Dan seal.
A golden rim, deep scarlet hue, and a puddle of chocolate syrup at the bottom of the glass. What’s better? I chose vanilla vodka as my base for an extra hint of confection-like flavor. Cherry juice brings home the body of the drink, and a hint of chocolate bitters emphasizes the cocoa backdrop. The result? An equally tangy and sweet weekend imbibement, awesome for a date night. If you really want to kick up the ante on your stay-at-home romance, bake up the Triple Layer Chocolate Explosion Cake to nibble for the ultimate dessert spread. You won’t regret it.
